Water Level Forecast Guidance
This water level animation was created with hourly plots from the latest GBOFS forecast in Galveston Bay. The forecast guidance is for the next 30 hours of water levels as simulated by the model when the Bay is forced by coastal water levels and winds that are predicted by National Weather Service models. The spatial pattern of the highs and lows is due to both the astronomic tide and meterological forcing. Areas of red and orange (green and blue) show location of high (low) water which progresses from the entrance of the Bay northward during the flood and reversed from Bay southward during the ebb.
