Surface Wind Nowcast (Analyses)
This surface wind analysis animation was created using hourly plots of surface analyses from GBOFS. The surface
analyses were created by spatially interpolating wind observations from NOS' PORTS stations in the Galveston Bay
region. The interpolation was done using the two-step Barnes objective analysis scheme. A slight difference
between interpolated and observed winds at PORTS stations is possible due to the analysis scheme. These hourly
wind analyses were used by GBOFS' hydrodynamic model to generate hourly oceanographic nowcasts.
